Marketing Your Spiritual Business - Spiritual Business AdviceIf you've graduated from a life coaching program, a therapy training organization, or if you're an energy worker, healer, bodyworker, or any other type of spiritual business owner, chances are you weren't taught much about marketing while you were in school.

Indeed, I wouldn't be surprised if you were given less than an hour of training regarding the advertising of your professional practice - if indeed, even that much.

Many spiritual business owners come to me who absolutely know that they need to market themselves, but are relatively clueless about where to start.

Or, perhaps you've tried advertising and marketing, but you're still struggling to fill your calendar with paying clients. As a spiritual business owner, you're confident about your talents and your wish to help people, but marketing just isn't your forte.

Either way, if you're not making as much money as you would like, the good news is that marketing and advertising, when done right, always leads to more sales. And even better news is that's not necessary to spend a lot of money doing it. For spiritual business owners, the same rules apply as those for other professions. Proper marketing will increase the number of your clients and therefore your income.

Marketing your Spiritual Business on the Internet

In today's world, Internet marketing can have as much - if not a greater impact on your potential customers than all other media combined - and that would include television, radio, newspapers and magazines.

But as a spiritual business owner, where do you begin?

When I work with new clients, I always like to start by taking inventory. Let me ask you to write down a list of all of your strengths and personal assets. And by assets, I don't mean your financial assets - I mean your inner assets - all of your skills, talents, and unique gifts. Those qualities that inspired you to start a spiritual business in the first place.

In other words, what do you, in your spiritual business or professional practice, have to offer your clients that is unique and special in some way? We'll use that to build your "Unique Selling Proposition."

Let's say you're a Life Coach trying to build your client base. You loved your training but now you're at loose ends in finding your market. So what are you good at? Do you have unusual psychic abilities that you can offer your clients? Are you a former psychotherapist with a special knowledge about teenagers? Have you experienced something profound in your personal life that would qualify you as an expert in some way? These are a few examples of strengths and the special knowledge that can be used as assets in building your spiritual business.

Case Study of a Spiritual Business Owner

Jennifer is 36-year-old single mother who recently graduated from a coach training program. She wants to build a home business as a Life Coach but she doesn't know where to start. Jennifer's been told that she's a good coach and she's been complimented many times on both her empathic listening skills and her warm personality. In her free time, Jennifer likes to paint. Jennifer is a prime example of a spiritual business owner with a lot to offer and maybe she's someone like you.

So what are Jennifer's assets?

She's a mother so she has some understanding of what other mothers' lives are like.
She's graduated from a coach training school, so she's been taught how to ask "powerful questions."
She's a great listener.
She's an artist too.

These are Jennifer's apparent assets. But what about those that are not so apparent?

In coaching school, Jennifer made a lot of new friends. As a single mother, she organized an informal group of mothers who met twice a month to support each other in raising children. And so, as it turns out, Jennifer is also:

A great networker
Well organized, and
A confident speaker

Now Jennifer's assets are mounting. Can you see how her marketing possibilities are growing too? Let's get your spiritual business ideas flowing.
