Jay Reiss - "Spiritual Marketing Coach"

My journey started in 1976, while I was working in a private hospital in Eastern Pennsylvania. I was really surprised at how quickly patients recovered when their diets were improved and food supplements added. And then, a friend gave me a book about natural foods and holistic healing - and my vision began to grow about coaching clients toward better health…

And so I traveled across the country and settled in Los Angeles. The year was 1978. I had the opportunity to follow my dream when I entered a graduate school program which, after three years of hard work, I completed in 1981.

It was my wish to broadcast my message with the widest net possible. But little did I know just how wide that net would be!

I started as a nutritional consultant and teacher and began publishing articles in newspapers and magazines. Within a few months I was syndicating my own newspaper column - I called it "Nutrition in Mind" - and I supplemented my publishing work by lecturing throughout Southern California. I made guest appearances on television and radio shows - and gave workshops at six colleges in the greater Los Angeles area. I also worked as the Public Education Chairman of the American Cancer Society, and lectured through the Speaker's Bureau for the American Heart Association. Between the workshops, my media appearances, and my published work, my name was frequently in the papers - and on magazine covers throughout all of North America.

By the following year, clients and friends were asking me how to build their businesses - like I had been building mine! The momentum I established in the early 1980's gave me a strong base to work from, and that's when I expanded my practice to include small business owners of all shapes and sizes. And so I began my practice as a Marketing and Success Coach!

I started coaching at a time when very few people understood what coaching meant outside the realm of sports. I took to coaching like a duck to water, and within a very short time, I established myself as one of the first professional coaches on the planet - and the only Success Coach that I knew of anywhere.

Following the same principles and strategies that effectively launched my health services and publishing career, I started marketing myself in business magazines with a worldwide circulation. In the mid-to-late 80's I created an international reputation through my full-page magazine advertisements and innovative direct mail campaigns. By 1990, I was reaching over two million readers every month in publications like Entrepreneur Magazine, Success, the Wall Street Journal, and many many others. I was frequently invited to speak in front of large audiences and was the keynote speaker at international business conventions and Marketing Boot Camps all across America.

The 90's flew by in a flurry of business, strategic alliances, and a continual flow of clients. I was typically coaching 20 to 30 clients at a time and it was during this period that my team and I produced nearly five thousand advertisements. It was also during this period that I wrote and self-published five books on various aspects of Direct Marketing, which have been sold all over the world. "The Mail Order Millionaire's Guide" was the best known of all. One of my key marketing strategies was to record and distribute thousands of cassette tapes from which I could introduce my Marketing Coach services in the comfort and privacy of my prospective clients' homes. Once I mastered the technique of "two-step marketing" by using full-page advertising to generate leads, it was only a matter of time until I would saturate the print marketing world with my work. I estimate that the marketing strategies that I've helped develop have been responsible for nearly $200 million dollars in sales. From 1981 until 2005, I coached more than two thousand clients worldwide!

My Spiritual Awakening

In the Spring of 2005, after 25 years of non-stop business, a friend of mine recommended a book to read that was destined to change my life forever. The book was "Many Lives, Many Masters" by Brian L. Weiss. It's a book about reincarnation! Up until that time my position on this topic was that "I just didn't know if it was possible or not" but suddenly confronted with irrefutable evidence, my view of life shifted abruptly. I was so impressed with what I read, that I took a Sabbatical year from work to slow down, do some more reading, and see where all of this would lead me.

I was fascinated by the view that we never die - and the implications from this were staggering. To put it simply, I was dying to know more :). So I read Brian Weiss's other books too, and later books by Sylvia Browne, Raymond Moody, Michael Newton, and many many others. Several months later there was no turning back - my Era of Awakening had begun! I looked around for a teacher to study with - someone who could take me to the next level, and that's when I found Sonia Choquette after reading her amazing "Diary of a Psychic."

During a wonderful week with Sonia at the Feathered Pipe Ranch in Montana, I started to believe that I had some magical potential in life that went beyond the five senses - something I never knew or thought about during all of my years in business. Sonia's work made me realize that we are all "six sensory beings" and the truth about this gave me a completely new perspective on life. When I returned to my home in Santa Barbara in the summer of 2005, I was a changed person and knew that I could never go back to the monochrome world I was living in before! My new Mission Statement was to help spiritually-minded business owners to build their businesses using highly effective marketing strategies - everything I had learned and pioneered since 1981. My goal was - and is now - to work as a Spiritual Marketing Coach and to blend business and spirituality - developing highly effective marketing - with spiritual values incorporated throughout.

And so, from all of this, my Spiritual Marketing Coach practice has emerged. Now I work with spiritually-minded business owners who want to embrace spiritual principles along with highly effective marketing. Here I am - standing between business and spirituality - and bridging the gap.
